Everything you should know about the la.ga bag

The La.ga bag

Krv Kurva is a portuguese studio, created in 2003, by Jorge Moita. The studio creates industrial and fashion designs. Krv Kurva haves an eclectic base concept of design creation and designers. One of the several creations is the Bag La.Ga, created by Daniela Pais e Jorge Moita. This bag conciliates two innovative design ideas: the manufacturing and the personal and unique graphic design layout of the collections, that are produced in limited editions with a certificate of authenticity, numbered and signed by each layout creator. The form of La.Ga is shaped like a large tear drop, produced and constructed in Portugal in a semi-rigid 100% Tyvek Graphics Quality, thinner than one millimetre, weighing less than 40 grams. It's able to hold up to 55kg. It is machine washable.

Since 2005, Jorge Moita created and developed a studio and a production system based in the Women´s Jail of Tires, Portugal.
The project gained immediate international, and inside the Minister of Justice, recognition and profile, giving birth to a range of high-end ethos products, developed in a low-tech environment,
and making evidence of the challenges designers, companies and society can experience in the turn of the Century.
The project provided a social eco, far behind bars, from the workers to other Jails and into the community of design,and made possible projects that ranged from commissions to pieces and complete collections on special request.
Working for the "Federation Française du Prêt-a-Porter", the Who´s Next Paris and Premiere Classe Paris, the Gulbenkian Foundation, the Saint-Petersburg Hermitage Foundation,
The Serralves Foundation, with Benedita Feijó the Portuguese Presidency, and Portuguese tourism, to Cultural Centre of Belem, in ongoing product developments,to collaborations and partnerships with some of the most high profile designers and brands in the international scene, such as Marcel Wanders, and his MOOOI company with Selfridges, Issey Miyake, Making Things, "Marie de Puteaux Paris", London, Swarovski for Bread & Butter, Nissan for Qasqai, "Soporcel, Be Part of the Solution" ,the Damn Magazine Design Cork, etc.

To the usual collaborations between Jorge Moita and other studios, designers, artists, and a range of other creatives, and trendsetterslike Peter Saville Associates, Joana Vasconcelos, Craig Feinberg, Musa DesignCollective, Benedita Feijó, Helena Almeida, Pieke Bergmans, Pierre FichéFeaux, to name a few,in more than 40 Editions of the La.Ga bag, -30% bag, anotherbag™, Twisted, a_ collections etc.
From designing Fabrics, to clothing, finished containers of the Portuguese re-invented and branded innovation status.
That made this Jail Studio an international case study and made Krv Kurva Design a Premium Brand in trade fairs with agents and representatives in more than 11 different countries,
selling in some of the most representative stores and galleries around the world.

In a year that celebrates the new protocol developed by Jorge Moita, aproved and recognize with the Portuguese Minister ofJustice, and after the interest of MoMA NY,ready to introduce some of these projects and ethos in a major exhibition next year,The Studio has open one of the most important doors to other designer´s for a real difference and a real challenge, developing ideas with Krv Kurva Design,and integrated this studio and his questions. Run, Jump and Throw - Athletics in International Contemporary Art

On the occasion of the 12 th IAAF World Championships in Athletics berlin 2009™ the exhibition "Run, Jump and Throw – Athletics in International Contemporary Art" will be on display in the Berlin City Hall , known as the Rotes Rathaus. The exhibition offers a glance at the handling of the topic in contemporary art and provides an introduction to the aesthetics of art and sport from the vantage point of various cultures. The works of art (painting and photography) depict individual views and aspects of that which artists from diverse continents associate with the World Championships in Athletics in Berlin. All of the works in the exhibit are new creations and are being presented to the public for the first time.

We have already made it past hundreds of other contenders and now is the time to show what sets us and our designs apart from the rest!

The competition provides the opportunity to design carpets. The winning designs will be produced in a limited edition and sold exclusively on carpetvista.

The aim of the competition is for us to design a carpet, and CarpetVista will then provide the production. The carpet will be hand knotted and manufactured with the highest quality of materials.

Our design ( picture below ) will be displayed on carpetvista and CarpetVista's visitors will cast their vote to select the winner.

This begins next Monday, 2009-07-27 and there are participants from 21 different countries in the finals!

1st they did ask to do an artwork inspired by the Absolut Pears flavour.
Then they ask to do some artwork using the original ad!

La.ga bag proposal by InteracCreative

The design represents Portugal’s modernity in matters like renewable energy.

The bag function is to " wrap " a book that will be given and presented by the Portuguese prime minister, Cavaco Silva in a promotional dinner in Berlin, today.

We didn´t end the chosen designers just because Nick Knights renewable energy campaign (Europe’s West Coast) didn´t inspired us...

Rojo Out 3 - The Artwork by InteractCreative

ROJO®out started in 2006 as an artistic initiative with the valuable and understanding partnership of J&B. It aims to show the talent of international emergent artists on the streets throughout the transformation of the advertising billboards onto outdoor art canvases. A yearly one month exhibition of specific and unpublished artworks made specifically to be displayed in outdoor backlight billboards, distributed strategically through the city center, the surroundings and the most important connection routes in Barcelona, Spain.

La.ga Bag by InteractCreative - Gulbenkian Foundation

Two new Krvkurva La.ga Limited Editions were launched this week in Lisbon, Portugal. Comissioned by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation are inspired in the gardens of the Foundation Headquarters in Lisbon. These brand new la.gas were illustrated by Benedita Feijó giving a glimpse into the luxurious flora of the gardens, one of Lisbon's best paradises to walk and just relax. Images of poetry, these two editions catch a moment of beauty and launch it into eternity.

As part of the ethos of Krvkurva and it's founder designer Jorge Moita, these editions were carefully sowed and finished at Tires Prison Facility for Women in Portugal, who are now very proud that their work is travelling the word, finding a place among the best design shops and museums. Their names: Maria, Rosário, Yannetsi, Wendy, Kim, Margarida, Clotlide, Teresa, Paloma, women whose lives are now limited by prison but also freed by their commitment to work, self-pride and hope.

These new la.gas are the very last items of the Benedita Feijó / Jorge Moita DARWIN COLLECTION: the prior editions were comission by the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art and the Luxury Design Hotel do Bairro Alto in Lisbon. These collection is all inspired by Nature and Origin and illustrated by Benedita Feijó, one of Portugal's main visual artists.

I got this email about this design group, Interact Creative, and they do some pretty cool work. They’re living in Portugal doing professional design, and their stuff is really bright and colorful, with this great romanticized feel to it. Their work is the world I wish existed- this tropical, serene isolation where nothing goes wrong, where there’s only balloon rides and flowers. Sometimes, I think art needs to reveal pleasent, optimistic side to the truth, and show that happiness is possible, even if it’s a bit fantastical.
